Encompassed of coral and limestone this northern island of the leeward chain is less than ten miles from St. Maarten. Travelers from the U.S. could leave from most states and be here in the same day. If you live on the East Coast you could usually leave in the morning and be there in the afternoon just in time for lunch and an afternoon swim.

Weather

Anguilla’s average temperature is approximately 80 degrees, and a little cooler at night. The island lights up in the evening with a sky filled with an abundance of stars. It rains more from September and October than any other month. February through March is this destinations dry season.

Language

English settlers landed on this island in 1650. Although the French temporarily took over this island in 1666 the island was returned to Britain. The main language is English.

Currency

Anguilla’s local currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar but the U.S. dollar is accepted all over the island which is at a fixed rate of $2.68 (ECD) to $1.00 (U.S.)
