China is located in eastern Asia which is enclosed by the Pacific in the east. China is the 3rd largest country in the world, next to Canada and Russia. It has an area of 9.6 million square kilometers or one-fifteenth of the world’s landmass, and boasts a staggering population of 1.3 billion people. The capital of China is Beijing; a city with a population of more than 13.8 million people and the nation’s political and cultural centre.

China has a climate dominated by dry seasons and wet monsoons, which leads to clear temperature differences in winter and summer. Winters are cold and dry while summers are usually warm and moist. China’s climate differs from region to region because of the country’s widespread and complex geography. In the south of the Nanling Mountains, rains are fruitful and the temperature is sky-scraping all year round. In northeast China the winter season is really lengthy and cold while the summer season is really short. Rainfall is limited in northwest China where it is cold in winter and hot in summer. Another tourist attraction is The Forbidden City. The city is located at the heart of Beijing. It is also recognized as the Palace Museum or Gugong in the Chinese language. For the duration in the period of Ming and Qing dynasties, the city was the imperial palace.
