Hawaii

Description

Hawaii is the most recent State to be joined to United States and it mainly comprises of islands. Also known as the “Aloha State”, Hawaii’s capital city is Honolulu which is also the largest city there. Hawaii is the northernmost island in Polynesia and occupies most of the archipelago on the central Pacific Ocean, and is on the south east of Japan, south west of the continental US and north east of Australia. The land area of Hawaii is about 16, 637 square kilometers. According to Hawaii’s last census, its population is about 1.3 million people.

Weather

Hawaii has only two seasons; summer and winter which ran from May to October and October to April consecutively. Because of its mild temperatures, gentle but warm trade winds and sunny skies, Hawaii is a perfect vacation spot which can be visited throughout the year. It is never too cold or too hot, the weather is always right. However, you may want to carry some warm clothes to wear in the evening if you intend to stroll along the beach.

Language

The State of Hawaii acknowledges English and Hawaiian as its two official languages. The recent census indicates that a majority of Hawaii’s residents speak English and a small percentage speaks Hawaiian. In addition, the State’s residents speak Spanish, Indo- European languages, Asian, Japanese and many more languages.

Currency

As part of the United States, Hawaii uses the dollar currency. You will be able to find currency exchange in most banks as well as hotels.

Hawaii’s diverse and natural scenery, warm climate, oceanic surrounding and an abundance of public beaches as well as active volcanoes make it one of the most popular tourist destinations for biologists, surfers and vulcanologist.
