Also known as the “American Heartland” Iowa is located in the Midwestern area of U.S. Iowa is recognized worldwide as the food capital of the world. Originally after the European explorations, the subsequent settlers of Iowa laid an agricultural foundation and the position has not changed ever since. Iowa’s capital city is Des Moines which is also the largest city in the State. Iowa covers an area of about 145, 743 kilometers squared with a population of about 3.5 million people.

Because of its location in the humid continental zone, it has extreme climate of both cold and heat. The summers are usually very hot and humid while the winters cold and springs wet. Snowfall is very common during winter in Iowa. The best time to visit Iowa would be during Summer time because the weather is great for swimming and camping.

A high percentage of Iowan residents speak English being the official language of Iowa. However, Iowa’s population entails a number of several races and ancestry, indicating that there are other languages which are also in use such as Spanish, and French among several others.

To learn about the history and culture of Iowa, the place to visit is the home of Grant wood in Cedar Rapids where you will see paintings of the “American Gothic”. There are also various festivities that take place in Cedar Rapids that might interest you.
Further, Iowa’s largest park which presents miles of rural and urban trials is another interesting place to visit at the Hawkeye Downs Speedway.
