It borders France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia to the north, while it borders the Italian Peninsula, Sicily, and Sardinia to the south. The capital of Italy is Rome; a city with a population of over 2.7 million residents and a total land area of 1,285.31 square kilometers.
