Description

Jamaica is an island country located in the Caribbean Sea. The largest island on the Caribbean Sea and home to the world’s largest natural harbour, Jamaica neighbours Cuba to the north and Hispaniola to the east. The country covers an area of 10991 square kilometers and has a population of 2.9 million people.  The capital of Jamaica is Kingston, a city with a population of over 800,000 people.

Weather

Jamaica has a tropical climate with hot and humid weather. Most of the days are warm and sunny. The best time to visit Jamaica is between December and early April, it is generally cool and dry. For a sunny vacation, visit between April and August. Bring a jacket if you plan to go up the mountains or take a windy boat ride.

Language

Jamaica’s official language is English. Jamaicans speak the national language, Jamaican

Patois, which is English superimposed with vocabularies from African languages

Currency

Jamaica’s official currency is the Jamaican Dollar. The country faces serious economic challenges but has potential for growth. It is rich with natural resources and an ideal climate for agriculture and tourism.

Tourist Attractions

Jamaica boasts of various tourist attraction sites including Bob Marley Museum that has displays in honour of the reggae singer. Other places are the popular resort region of Ocho Rios with its breathtaking resort hotels on beaches such as Mallards Beach and Turtle Beach. There are cool places to see here including the White River Bay and Crafts Market.  Jamaica’s most beautiful Dunns River Falls are found here.
