Kentucky

Also known as the Commonwealth of Kentucky, this State is located on the Eastern central region of the U.S. Kentucky is among four other States which have been constituted as commonwealth, the others being Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Kentucky is also known as the Bluegrass State because of the presence of bluegrass in many pastures within the State. Consequently, the quality of livestock in Kentucky is high. Kentucky covers an area of 104,659 kilometres squared with a population of about 4.5 million people. Its capital city is Frankfort, the largest city being Louisville.

Kentucky’s climate is temperate with reasonably cold winters and summers which are warm and humid. The temperatures, humidity and rainfall remain within the agreeable limits to man, animals and plant life. Because the weather is favorable, Kentucky is a State which can be visited all year round.

The official language used in Kentucky is English. English and Germans are among the largest ancestries in Kentucky followed by the Irish and African American.

Kentucky uses the dollar. The State has gained recognition because of its outstanding farming conditions and practices. In the previous past it was the first site for commercial winery in U.S.  The economy of Kentucky has expanded greatly and this is attributed to energy fuel production and auto manufacturing among several other factors.

Kentucky has various tourist destinations for both individuals and families. There are civil war battlefields to view, innovative art galleries and international museums to provide you an insight of an unknown history.
