Louisiana is a State in the U.S which is located on the most southern region. New Orleans is the largest city while its capital is Baton Rouge. Louisiana borders Texas to the west, Arkansas to the north, Mississippi to the east and Gulf of Mexico to the South. Louisiana is further divided into political subdivisions called Parishes making it the only State with such subdivisions. Louisiana has a population of about 4.6 million residents and covers an area of about 135,382 kilometers squared.

Louisiana’s climate is a relative constant semitropical climate. Humidity and rainfall generally decreases as daily temperatures variation increase with the distance from the Gulf of Mexico. Occasional snow falls in the northern are and rarely in the South. The sun shines most times and it is usually wet during summer time.

Although Louisiana has not Stated English as its official language, a higher percentage of its residents speak English, followed by French, Spanish, Vietnamese and German. Also, there are a couple of unique dialects of Creole, English and French spoken there.
