Mexico borders the United States of America to the North, the Pacific Ocean to the West, Guatemala, Belize and the Caribbean Sea to the Southeast and the Gulf of Mexico to the East. The country, which covers a land area of 1,972,550 square kilometers, is the 5th largest country in the Americas and the 13th largest independent nation in the world. Mexico has a population of over 112 million people. It is the world’s 11th most populous country and the most populous Spanish-speaking country. The country’s capital is Mexico City with a population of 8.84 million people.
