Mexico is a country located in North America. Mexico borders the United States of America to the North, the Pacific Ocean to the West, Guatemala, Belize and the Caribbean Sea to the Southeast and the Gulf of Mexico to the East. The country, which covers a land area of 1,972,550 square kilometers, is the 5th largest country in the Americas and the 13th largest independent nation in the world. Mexico has a population of over 112 million people. It is the world’s 11th most populous country and the most populous Spanish-speaking country. The country’s capital is Mexico City with a population of 8.84 million people.

Mexico’s climate varies from hot and humid coasts, dry inland to freezing temperatures at higher elevations. The best time to visit Mexico is November, temperatures are warmer and scenery is green. To enjoy beaches, July and August are best months.

Mexico’s official language is Spanish. The 68 distinct indigenous American indian languages are recognized as national languages.

The country’s official currency is the Peso (MXN). Mexico has a strong economy with the 13th largest nominal GDP and the 11th largest by purchasing power parity in the world. It is the largest North American auto-producing nation.

Mexico is considered as one of the best holiday destinations in North America. Its attractions range from snow covered volcanoes, peaceful beaches to historical monuments, and industrialized cities. Among major sites to visit are the famous Acapulco city’s Coyuca Lagoon to enjoy snorkelling, yachting and fishing. Cancun Island is an ideal water sports and offers several Mayan archaeological spots. Monterrey, home to Macro Plaza, Cathedral, Museum of Mexican History and Paseo Santa Lucia. A visit to the Mayan Riviera is a must to see the Mayan Reef, the largest coral reef in the western hemisphere.
