Michigan

Description

Michigan is a State in U.S that is located on the Great Lakes Region. Michigan has the longest coastline of freshwater which is bound by four great lakes and for that reason is quite famous for recreational boating. Michigan has 64, 980 ponds and inland lakes. The capital city of Michigan is Lansing while Detroit is its largest city. Michigan covers an area of about 250, 493 kilometers squared with a population of about 10 million people.

Weather

Although Michigan is divided into two distinct regions, it has the continental climate. While some areas of the Lower Peninsula have a warmer climate with hot summers and cool winters, the other areas of the Lower Peninsula have shorter, warm summers and long winters. The State receives thunderstorms and tornadoes which can be severe in the southern regions.

Language

Michigan does not have an official State language. However, most people speak English followed by Spanish, French and other dialects.

Currency

Michigan uses the dollar currency. Michigan’s economy does pretty well and a few of the contributors include automobiles, pizza, cereal products and Christmas trees. You will be able to change your currency or acquire the national currency at any of the national banks in Michigan.

Tourist Attractions

Michigan has many tourist attractions and destinations. It has a large percentage of land under forest and much of it is in quite remote areas. The forests, lakes and beaches are major attractions especially for nature enthusiasts.

Fishing and hunting is also quite significant in Michigan and this can be attributed to the number of lakes in the State.
