Mississippi

Also known as the Hospitality or Magnolia State, the state of Mississippi is located on the Southern region of the U.S. Its largest city is Jackson which is also its capital city. The Mississippi river, where the state’s name is derived flows along the state’s western boundary. The state is produces a lot of catfish which is used for consumption within the U.S. Mississippi has a population of about 3 million people and covers an area of about 125,443 kilometers squared.

Because of its humid subtropical climate, Mississippi has long summers with short mild winters. The temperatures often vary in the summer from one region to another. During winter however the area around Mississippi sound is considerably warmer than other areas. The snow falls all over the state with the exception of the southern regions of the state.

The official language for use in Mississippi is English. A high percentage of its residents speak English. Because of migration over the years however, there may be other languages in use in that state aside from English.
