Description

Morocco, also officially known as the Kingdom of Morocco is a country located in North Africa and is part of the Maghreb region.  This Northern African country borders the North Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. It forms part of the Sahara desert and borders Algeria to the east and southeast. Morocco has a population of over 32 million people. It covers a land area of 710,850 square kilometers and shares cultural, historical and linguistic ties with Tunisia, Algeria, Mauritania, and Libya. The country’s capital is Rabat, a city with a population of over 650,000 people. Morocco’s largest city is Casablanca.

 

Weather

Morocco’s climate is generally hot and sunny most of the year. It gets uncomfortably hot during summer. The best time to visit is April to early June, then September through November. The climate is mild at this time.

Language

Morocco’s official languages are Arabic and Berber. 97% of the country’s population speak these languages.

Currency

Morocco’s official currency is Moroccan dirham (MAD). Its economy is heavily dependent on agriculture, tourism and phosphates. Morocco is the world’s third largest producer of phosphorus.

 

Tourist Attractions

Morocco has a well developed and strong tourism industry focused on the country’s coast, culture and history. There is a never-ending list of Moroccan attractions to enjoy starting with the most popular cities of Marrakech, Tangier, Fes and Casablanca where you find a mixture of medinas, bazaars and riads as well as superb beaches. A must visit is the Boulaouane Kasbah in Casablanca from where you will enjoy a spectacular view of the Wadi Oum er-Rbia River from the 10 meter high tower.
