Description

Norway, officially known as the Kingdom of Norway, is a country located at the western part of the Scandinavian Peninsula. This second least densely populated country in Europe neighbours Sweden and Russia to the East, Finland to the North and Denmark to the South.  Norway covers a total land area of 385,252 square kilometers and a population of about 4.9 million people.The capital city of Norway is Oslo, a city with a population of over 1.4 million people.

 

Weather

Norway has a generally temperate climate. The best month to visit is June to early September when it’s warm and sunny. To view spectacular waterfalls, late June, early July is best.

 

Language

Norwegian (Bokmål and Nynorsk) is the official language in Norway. Other recognised regional languages spoken are Northern Sami, Lule Sami, Kven and Southern Sami.

Currency

The official currency in Norway is the Norwegian Krone (NOK). Norway has a very strong economy. It has the second highest GDP per-capita in the world and ranks second among wealthiest countries in the world in monetary value.

Tourist Attractions

Norway has beautiful sites to see. Northern Norway, home the Sami, Norway’s indigenous people, is famous for wonderful wildlife safaris, midnight sun and northern lights. A visit to Eastern Norway will have you enjoy the sight of tall and wild mountains in Jotunheimen National Park.  For those who seeking fun physical activities, Western Norway offers easily accessible fjords and mountains ideal for hiking, glacier walking, fishing and cycling. To experience Norway’s history and heritage, Central Norway, commonly called Trøndelag, offers you an opportunity to enjoy the salmon rivers and interact with friendly people.
