Panama

Panama is a country located in the southernmost part of Central America. Situated on a narrow land connecting North and South America, Panama neighbours Costa Rica to the Northwest, Colombia to the Southeast, the Caribbean Sea to the North and the Pacific Ocean to the South.  Panama, which controls the Panama Canal covers a land area of 75,517 square kilometers and has a population of 3,405,813 million people. The capital of Panama is Panama City with a population of 1.2 million people.

Panama’s climate is generally tropical with two seasons; the rainy and dry seasons. The best time to visit Panama is during the dry season, usually mid December to mid April.

Panama’s official language is Spanish. Though Spanish is the dominant language, English is spoken by professionals and those working in businesses and government sectors.

The official currencies in Panama are the Balboa (PAB) and the U.S. Dollar (USD). Panama has a strong economy which is among the fastest growing and best managed in Latin America.

Panama has many spectacular tourism sites that include sand beaches, national parks, the Panama Canal and Islands. The Centennial Bridge, one of two major bridges crossings over the Panama Canal is an exciting view. The Panama Canal connecting the Atlantic and the Pacific oceans is a major tourism site that is a must visit.  Amador Causeway connecting three small islands with the mainland, Ancon Tower that is 654 feet over Panama City offering a spectacular view to Casco Viejo, Panama City, Panama Bay and the islands of Bocas del Toro ideal for Scuba diving, snorkelling, hiking, bird watching, and sun bathing are some of the Panama’s most exciting sites.
