Description

Peru is a country in located in western South America. It neighbours Ecuador and Colombia to the North, Brazil to the East, and Bolivia to the Southeast by Bolivia, Chile to the South and on the Pacific Ocean to the West. A country whose capital is home to the oldest higher learning institution in the World, Peru covers a total land area of 1,285,216 square kilometers. It has a population of over 29 million people. Peru’s capital is Lima, a city with over 7.6 million people.

Weather

Peru’s climate is diverse with ranging from subtropical at the coast and Equatorial along eastern lowlands. The best months to visit are June, July and August. For lesser crowds, April to June and September to November are ideal.

Language

The official language in Peru is Spanish. Other languages spoken by the country’s population are Peruvian Coast Spanish and Quechua

Currency

The official currency in Peru is Nuevo Sol (PEN). The country has a developing market oriented economy that relies heavily on international trade.

Tourist Attractions

Peru has a wide range of attractive sites including lagoons, hiking places, beaches and architectural designs; and it is also home to the world’s deepest canyon. Some places to make your visit memorable include the Colca Canyon, the world’s deepest canyon at over 1km from cliff edge to river bottom, and the jungle-locked Iquitos that offers fascinating examples of European architecture.

 

Tourists can also enjoy a visit to Huacachina; a quiet, secluded location with salty waters and mud, which has historically been used for in healing rituals. For those who want to enjoy a good hike, Huaraz is the place to visit for extensive mountaineering and trekking among Peru’s highest snow
