Description

The Island of Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the United States, located in the North Eastern Caribbean Sea. Puerto Rico neighbor’s Dominican Republic to the east and the United States Virgin Islands and British Virgin Islands to the west. Puerto Rico is made up of a cluster of islands. Puerto Rico covers a land area of 9,104 square meters and has a population of over 3.9 million people. Puerto Rico’s capital is San Juan, a city with a population of over 395,000.

Weather

Puerto Rico’s climate is generally tropical. The best months to visit Puerto Rico are between December and April which are high season months. May to November is low season but is prone to hurricane.

Language

The official languages in Puerto Rico are Spanish and English. Spanish is the primary language.

Currency

The official currency in Puerto Rico is the US Dollar.  The country’s economy relies heavily on tourism and agriculture.

Tourist Attractions

The island of Puerto Rico is endowed with a rich array of colonial architecture, scenic beaches and tropical rain forests.  Some interesting places to visit are the Castillo de San Felipe del Morro, a colonial fort overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the winding streets of Old San Juan and the El Yunque, a tropical rain forest that features 13 trails and a bird sanctuary with numerous streams and waterfalls. The Pine Grove Beach is also one of the best places to visit if you want to swim and have some leisure activities. This white-sand beach forms a crescent along the crystalline waters of the Caribbean.
