Russia is a country located in northern Eurasia. Some of Russia’s neighboring countries include Lithuania, Poland, Finland, China, Georgia and North Korea. The country also shares maritime borders with Japan by the Sea of Okhotsk, and the United States by the Bering Strait. Russia covers a land area of 17,075,400 square kilometers making it the largest country in the world. It covers more than one eighth of the Earth’s inhabited land area. Russia has a population of over 142 million people.

Russia generally has a humid continental climate. July and August are best months to visit. To avoid crowds, May, June, September and October are ideal months.

Russia has numerous attractive sites ranging from cathedrals, palaces, to museums. The Armoury museum in Moscow carrying an array of fine treasures from the 4th century to this date would be a good place to start. Visit the St. Basil’s Cathedral, a famous historical figure built in 1550’s. Gorky Park, a recreational centre complete with Ferris wheels, food stands, roller coasters, open-air theatres, rock clubs, food stands, skating ponds, and a fairground is a great place to visit especially if you have kids. In St. Petersburg, visit the Peter and Paul Cathedral, one of the tallest and oldest buildings of St. Petersburg for a spectacular view.
