South Carolina is a U.S. state which is located on the Deep South in the United States. South Carolina borders North Carolina to the North, Atlantic Ocean to the east and Georgia to the south. South Carolina has 46 counties and is among the populous states of U.S. according to the recent census with a total of about 5 million residents. Its largest city which is also its capital is known as Columbia. South Carolina covers an area of 82,931 kilometres squared.

South Carolina’s climate varies greatly by region. However, most places can be accessed all year round. Summers are generally hot and humid while winters are less uniform depending on various regions. It is advised that spring time is the best time to travel to South Carolina because the weather and temperatures are conducive for many activities.

The official language of South Carolina is English. However, due to ancestry groups and immigration, there are other languages which may be in use such as Spanish, German and other small indigenous dialects.
