South Dakota

Description

South Dakota is a U.S. state that is located on the Midwestern Regions of the country. The state is bordered by North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Wyoming and Nebraska. South Dakota is divided into two regions by the Missouri river. It has a population of about 900,000 residents and covers an area of about 199, 730 kilometres squared. It is among the least populated states in the U.S. The capital of South Dakota is Pierre city while Sioux Falls is the state’s largest city.

Weather

South Dakota has distinct seasons which range from hot summers to cold winters. In summer, temperatures can be quite high and average below the freezing point in winter. Summer is the best time to visit many of the state’s attractions. There is less traffic and you get the opportunity to see spring’s first blossoms and falls brilliant foliage.

Language

The official language in the state for use is English. However, other languages such as German, Spanish, Irish and other indigenous dialects are often used.

Currency

As a members state of the U.S. South Dakota uses the dollar currency. The State’s economy does well and was even recognized among the first ten top states for business in 2010 and only recently the unemployment rate of South Dakota was 4.9%. Most banks and hotels will be in a position to assist you with any currency exchange issues.

From hiking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, boating and all outdoor activities that you can think can be found in South Dakota.
