Description

Switzerland, officially called the Swiss Confederation is a a country located in Western Europe. Switzerland neighbor’s Germany to the north, France to the west, Italy to the south, and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east. A landlocked country divided between the Alps, the Central Plateau and the Jura, Switzerland covers a land area of 41,285 square kilometers.  The Alps occupy the large part of the Switzerland. The country has a population of over 7.8 million people. Switzerland’s capital is Bern, a city with a population of over 123,000 people.

Weather

Switzerland generally has a temperate climate. The best month to visit is May. June and July are also good months.  

Language

Switzerland has four official languages; German spoken by 63.7 %, French spoken by 20.4 %, Italian spoken by 6.5 % and Roman spoken by 0.5% of Switzerland’s population.

Currency

Switzerland’s official currency is the Swiss franc (CHF) which is the world’s strongest currency with the lowest inflation rate. The country has a stable and modern economy and has the highest European rating in the Index of Economic Freedom.

Tourist Attractions

Switzerland boasts of some of the world’s most spectacular sites. Mittelland, a low land area North of Alps is home to many beautiful lakes. The famous mountain peaks of Matterhorn in Zermatt, which is part of the loftiest in the Valais, you will be overwhelmingly excited by its impressive beauty. Experience the breath-taking scenery in this charming, traffic-free mountain resort. The appealing countryside of Bernese Oberland, specked by beautiful lakes and flanked by impressive mountains provides a great variety of attractions. Also, visit the legendary Lucerne considered the true “Swiss” capital. This charming and attractive town straddles the Reuss River on the western edge of Lake Lucerne and makes an excellent base for excursions with its proximity to lakes and mountains as well as a base for venturing south towards the Alps and the Ticino.
