Tennessee

Description

Tennessee is a U.S. state which is located on the south eastern region of U.S. The state has a population of about 6.5 million residents and covers an area of 109, 220 kilometres squared. Tennessee borders Virginia and Kentucky to the north, Mississippi, Georgia and Alabama to the south, north Carolina to the east and Missouri and Arkansas to the west. Tennessee’s eastern region is dominated by the Appalachian Mountains while the Mississippi River forms the western border of the state. Tennessee’s capital is Nashville while the largest city in the state is Memphis.

Weather

Tennessee has varied climates. During spring and early summer is the best time to travel to Tennessee during which time the weather is warm during the day and cool in the evenings. December to March is a perfect time to travel to Nashville as the weather usually ranges from warm to chilly and snowfall tends to add a sense of festivity. The crowds are less during cold weather. Tennessee is susceptible to getting tornadoes and ice storms.

Language

The official language used in Tennessee is English.

Currency

Tennessee as a U.S. member state uses the dollar currency. The state’s economy does quite well with major contributors such as agriculture, tourism and manufacturing. Tennessee also exports electrical equipment, transportation equipment and chemicals. Currency conversion can be done in major banks and hotels.

Tourist Attractions

Nature lovers will definitely love visiting this state. From the Appalachian to the Great Smoky Mountains national park, all these are major tourist attractions that invite a lot of people to the state.

Other tourist attractions include the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga and Elvis Presley’s Graceland located in Memphis.
