Washington

Description

Washington is a U.S. State which is located on the Pacific North western region. It borders British Columbia to the South, Idaho to the west and Oregon to the North. The capital of Washington is Olympia while Seattle is its largest city. The state has a population of about 7 million and it covers an area of about 184,827 kilometers squared. To distinguish the state from U.S. Capital, it is usually referred to as Washington State.

Weather

Washington’s climate differs greatly especially from the west to East. The oceanic climate dominates the western areas of Washington while the semi-arid climate predominates east of the Cascade Range. July and August are dry months and therefore the best time to visit Washington.

Language

Although Washington does not have an official language, a high percentage of its residents use English. However due to ancestry groups and immigration, there are other languages which are in use such as German, Spanish and Irish among several other indigenous dialects.

Currency

Washington uses the dollar currency. Its economy does quite well and this can be attributed to significant businesses such as automotive, computer software development among many others. Most banks and hotels will gladly convert your foreign currency into the local currency.

Tourist Attractions

Washington State offers an abundance of destinations as diverse as its topography which ensures that it fits the taste of any traveler. The outdoor traveler will witness and enjoy a variety of activities which include kayaking rafting, skiing e.t.c. while the urban oriented traveler will experience attractions such as dance, theaters, festivals and concerts.
